Lower the Voting Age to 16 for All Elections

Lower the Voting Age to 16 for All Elections
The Issue
Sixteen is the age at which someone can be taxed by the government, yet 16 year olds are denied the right to vote on how they are governed.
The law considers 16 year olds mature enough enough to enter marriages and civil partnerships, to become company directors, to work full time or even to join the armed forces. It doesn't make sense to say that 16 year olds are not also mature enough to vote, and it's undemocratic to deny 16 year olds a say when government affects their lives so much.
We the undersigned petition the Scotland Office to draft legislation devolving electoral registration and the ability to set the voting age for all elections in Scotland.
