I am a concerned resident of Wyckoff, NJ, living on Mountain Avenue. Our neighboring town, North Haledon, has recently reduced their section of Mountain Ave to a speed limit of 25 mph. However, our part remains at 35 mph. This inconsistency is not only confusing for drivers but also dangerous for our community—especially the small children who live and play here.

The current speed limit is often exceeded by drivers passing through our area. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that speeding killed more than 9,000 people in the US in 2018 alone (source: NHTSA). A lower speed limit could help prevent such tragedies in our town.

By reducing the speed limit from 35 to 25 mph on Mountain Avenue in Wyckoff, we can ensure consistent driving conditions with North Haledon and provide safer roads for all residents—particularly our children.
