The Issue

Our neighborhood is supposed to be a haven for children, pets and families. Yet, the current speed limit endangers our community's young ones, who should be able to run, play, and explore their surroundings safely. The excessive speed at which some drivers navigate our roads poses a constant threat to these everyday activities that our children cherish.

The statistics validate our concerns. At 25 mph, a collision can cause serious harm, or worse, to a child. It would take a car 62 feet to come to a stop from 25 mph. Even a slight reduction in speed could significantly lower the risks and save lives. Studies repeatedly show that lowering speed limits in residential areas reduces accidents, injuries, and fatalities.

We propose that the speed limit in our neighborhood be immediately reduced to 15 miles per hour. This change will ensure the streets are safer for our children and everyone else who enjoys our community. It will require drivers to be more aware of their surroundings and grant children the security to play and move freely.

Let's urge local authorities to take action and prioritize the safety of our families. Sign the petition today to support a safer environment for our entire neighborhood.
