On this day in 1963, JFK was assassinated. He is an important president because he was the last president to die in office and his death helped lead to the 25th amendment. He helped resolve the Cuban Missile Crisis, of which is a key event in the Cold War. He was the youngest elected president and the first catholic. As well, his vice president was Lyndon Johnson, of whom started the whole Vietnam War ordeal after he ascended to the presidency when Kennedy died. Vietnam War is the exact reason behind the 26th amendment that lowers the voting age from 21 to 18. That is how JFK connects to this petition. He is connected to the lowering age, though it’s indirectly. Without JFK, LBJ wouldn’t have ascended to the presidency.
