Franklin Pierce was born on this day in 1804. He could be one of our lesser known presidents but he is also one of our worst presidents. Pierce won the presidency in 1852 He is hated for doing nothing meaningful for Bleeding Kansas, like he didn’t send any troops. That cost him in the election in 1856. Bleeding Kansas was something that led to the Civil War. Pierce could’ve done something with Bleeding Kansas but didn’t. Pierce wasn’t a popular president, which seems like modern day presidents (neither Trump or Biden had good approval ratings throughout their presidencies, Trump in his first term, no data on his second yet). I find if something like that happened today, 16 and 17 year olds would develop an opinion on it and would like their voices heard.
