Today is Veterans Day. Today we honor our veterans, alive or dead. It would be a day to recall something in our history that relates to lowering the voting age. The Vietnam War is why our voting age is 18. Then the voting age was 21. During the Vietnam War, anyone who was at least 18 was being drafted. 18, 19, and 20 year olds were getting drafted and they didn't have a say in it. They weren't able to vote on stuff like the president. 16 and 17 year olds were never drafted and can't be whatsoever but they could be thinking about joining the military when they graduate High School. Majority of states have their age of consent at 16 or 17 (around 30 is 16), so I feel like the big topic today for them for political policy is abortion and birth control. I also feel if anything relating to minimum age would concern them as they are starting to enter the workforce. Remember we need 13 more signatures to reach our next goal. I feel like I did everything I could to get signatures and I call on everyone else to help share and promote to get more signatures. I want 100 signatures before the New Year but we can't get there if you all don't help me. I find it challenging if I'm the only one doing it. Find communities on social media that could help or even see if you could make a flyer of this to put in your local businesses.
