Lower the national voting age to 16.

Lower the national voting age to 16.
The Issue
Dear fellow citizens,
It is time for us to recognize the voices of our youth and lower the national voting age to 16. This change will allow young people to have a say in their future and ensure that their opinions are heard.
Research has shown that 16-year-olds are capable of making informed decisions and have a strong interest in civic engagement. In fact, countries such as Austria, Brazil, and Scotland have already lowered their voting age to 16 with positive results.
Furthermore, lowering the voting age can increase voter turnout among young people. According to a study by the Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE), states with pre-registration policies for 16- and 17-year-olds had higher youth voter turnout rates than those without such policies.
We must also consider that many young people are affected by political decisions made by elected officials. For example, they may be impacted by education policies or environmental regulations that will affect them for years to come.
It is time for us to trust our youth with the responsibility of voting. By lowering the national voting age to 16, we can ensure that all voices are heard and create a more inclusive democracy.
Thank you for your support in this important issue.
