The cost of parking permits at East Central University is becoming an undue burden on many students and their families, including my own. Due to unforeseen family financial issues, I find myself needing to switch cars mid-semester. This change will compel me to pay the full $75 permit fee twice— once for each vehicle. This price is insane for the subpar parking that is provided. The parking lots are full of cracks and are poorly maintained. They shut down the Pontotoc parking because of their own inability to maintain the dorms and are making it hard to find a place to park during the day. The Briles parking is horrible and there is no crosswalk to the Briles parking lot. Despite all of this they still are charging 75$ for each parking permit which makes it hard for people like me who have to switch cars to be able to park on campus. There have been an insane amount of car break ins because of the lack of lights and cameras. These issues need to be addressed or reflected in the cost.
