Wakulla Sands, a local site, should be inclusive and affordable for every Wakulla resident. Recently, many fellow golf lovers and beginners interested in taking up the sport have expressed being limited by the prices to play at our community founded golf course making it difficult for many locals to enjoy this important location. Despite the language used on their website and mission statement, the current pricing to play on weekends or buy a membership is not affordable for your typical Wakulla county monthly income. Furthermore, locals are not allowed to walk the course without owning a pricey membership. This is not an inclusive rule and should be taken away completely. Walking the course is a great way to get exercise but without the membership you are forced to pay extra to rent a golf cart. Walking the course should be available to any resident of our county to encourage community health and fitness. Repealing this rule and lowering prices will foster a more budget-friendly experience, encouraging community engagement and ensuring that everyone can enjoy the facilities. An inclusive society is one where everyone can participate equally. Pricing should not be a barrier to the enjoyment of our landmarks.
