Tell the Lower Makefield Township Supervisors: Save Our Open Space!
The Issue
The Lower Makefield Township Board of Supervisors (BOS) recently heard a proposal by Riverstone Church (formerly known as the Bible Fellowship Church) on Oxford Valley Road requesting the purchase of several acres of Township-owned land for construction of a parking lot. This land, which is currently open space, is a wetlands and dredged silt area that is home to abundant wildlife. It has been greatly underutilized by the township for its potential passive recreational and educational value.
Our Goals: to protect, restore, and maintain township-owned open space and wildlife for education and the enjoyment of current and future generations of residents by
- Protecting the habitat for the current animal population (including deer, fox, raccoons, frogs, rabbits, opossums, squirrels, skunks, songbirds, wild turkeys, pheasants, and possibly endangered/protected migratory birds)
- Preserving the local ecology, including wetlands and old-growth and historic trees
- Considering ecologically-sound enhancements such as nature walks, observation blinds, and benches
Please sign this petition and join with us to:
- Communicate to the BOS the strong support of our community against the sale of open space and the construction of a parking lot
- Demonstrate to the BOS that the sale of this land is not supported by our community, and against their best interest
- Implore the BOS to vote for a conservation easement on the entire property

Thank you for your support of our efforts to preserve this open space for current and future LMT residents!
