Implement online mental health screening program at LSU

The Issue

Students for Mental Health Access is a LSU student-led organization advocating for the implementation of an online mental health screening program on campus. Currently, LSU students must wait at least a month to see a counselor for an initial screening consultation. With such a long wait time, many students in need are discouraged from seeking help. The proposed program would help connect students to various levels of mental health resources without this wait time. The screening would also alleviate the burden on campus counselors by lowering the amount of students needing individual appointments. Similar systems are used at comparable universities within Louisiana and the SEC. This initiative would help students' mental health across campus, benefitting students and the university as a whole.
