Since Louisiana Tech University is reopening in the fall of 2020 for in person classes, I was wondering whether or not students will be provided testing for Covid-19. I had called the health office and to my surprise the lady who answered the phone stated that we would not be provided testing. Since we are in the middle of a pandemic it is important to know whether a student or faculty member (who many will have contact with) has the novel Coronavirus. This knowledge will save many lives of not just students, but also the faculty members and the families of the students. 

As of August 3rd, 2020 4,750,000 confirmed cases in the United States, and 120,000 cases in Louisiana alone. Students and their families are worried about what may happen if they catch this disease. I am Creating this petition because I have a family with many who are over that age of 55, and under the age of 10, whose immune systems are not as strong as mine. I know that I am not the only student whose family has people who are at a higher risk of being very negatively impacted by this disease. 

I am writing this petition to get Louisiana Tech to provide free testing to students and faculty members, so that they can help keep other safe. After all “Safety isn’t expensive, it’s priceless.” – Author Unknown
