Remove a racist monument in Colfax, Louisiana

The Issue

The Colfax massacre occurred on April 13, 1873 where a militia of white supremacists gained control of a court in Colfax, Louisiana and killed approximately 150 African-Americans and 3 of the white supremacists were killed in the midst of the chaos. This horrible terrorist attack not only left a stain on the history of Reconstruction in the South, but a memorial was erected for the 3 white men that were killed. The goal of this petition it to take down the memorial honoring the three "heroes" that were killed during this terrible, racist attack. The monument for the three white men should be taken down and replaced with a monument honoring the African-Americans who were killed.
