Kobe Bean Bryant is a pillar of the Los Angeles community and culture. With the untimely and tragic passing of him and his daughter, Giana, the community mourns yet again in less than a year as one of our central figures is taken from us. 

In his memory, this petition is to change the section of South Figueroa Street, between 11th and 12th street, to Kobe Bryant Drive.

Kobe Bryant delivered 5 NBA championships to Los Angeles, 2 Finals MVPs, 1 NBA MVP,  2-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and an Oscar Award.  Kobe was a dedicated partner with The United Way Foundation, engaging in countless community efforts with Nike and the Kobe And Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation with local activists, established the Mamba FC youth soccer program, and led with a profound sense of responsibility to help the homeless youth in Los Angeles.

This change to S. Figueroa St. will commemorate a Legend who built the Staples Center, brought the Mamba Mentality to Los Angeles and inspired an entire generation, a region, a state, a nation, and a world. His impact is certainly felt by millions and his memory must be solidified with the renaming of the corner stretch on South Figueroa Street.
