A SAFER Return to School for Los Angeles Students

A SAFER Return to School for Los Angeles Students

We, the Centro CSO Education Committee along with the community of Los Angeles, are demanding the Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent and BOARD make much needed accommodations for a SAFER return to school for ELEMENTARY school age students during the RISE of Covid cases in the Los Angeles County.
We are demanding the following:
A mandated protocol of 6 feet distancing between students in order to ensure safer learning spaces on campus.
A district-wide uniform meeting or webinar for LAUSD families with the same information available to everyone.
Currently, there is zero distancing between students in place for elementary school age students. These students DO NOT have access to Covid vaccines and therefore are at a high risk of infection, and spreading Covid to other students and their immediate at-risk family members. Most of our LAUSD families are from Title I schools and are from Black and Brown communities, where Covid has been the most prevalent. These communities have been devastated by Covid healthwise and economically.
Various Local Districts held meetings for families but the information shared varied for every area and some questions were not answered. ALL families deserve accurate information for a safer return to school.
