On August 28, 2016, the Los Angeles Dodgers placed outfielder Yasiel Puig on waivers. If a specific team "claims" him on waivers, they would have exclusive negotiating rights for a potential trade. If Puig clears waivers, he can be traded to whichever team the Dodgers want to do business with.

This would be a devastating blow to the children of The Greater Los Angeles Area. Since 2013, Yasiel Puig has dazzled the crowd with his high baseball I.Q., his outstanding clubhouse presence and his stoic example of maturity and self-control. A potential trade would be highly detrimental to young, impressionable Dodgers fans who view him as their undeniable hero. I ask that the Dodgers take Mr. Puig off of waivers immediately, and to discontinue their pursuit in relocating him to a different organization.
