Street name change/designation of passageway to Simmons Avenue as “Issac Padilla Lane”.
The Issue
On Sunday, July 11th, 2021 at 11:20 p.m., 19 year old Mayhem Baseball player and Schurr High School graduate, Issac Padilla, was fatally shot on a meridian that divides Montebello Parkway and Simmons Avenue and leads onto both streets in Unincorporated Los Angeles County, East L.A., Ca, 90022.
There is a standing memorial to Issac and the community implores L.A. County Department of Public Works to designate the approximately 100 feet of the passageway from Whittier Blvd to Simmons Ave as “Issac Padilla Lane”.
The passageway is an informal street which does not consist of residences nor businesses and a name change would actually be a designation of the lane, as per LA County DPW’s rules and definition of a “Lane”.
