Impose a screening process for adopters of animals in animal shelters
We need to impose a screening process and background check for potential adopters of animals in local animal shelters. This change to the animal care and control system is vital in order to prevent animals from landing in the hands of an unqualified adopter. The adoption process as it is now, consists of a first-come, first serve system. Animals need to be placed in the home most beneficial to their health and quality of living. It is imperative that we prevent animals from being adopted by animal abusers, dog fighters, domestic abusers, and child abusers. We can make a difference in the lives of animals by insuring that they are placed for adoption in loving, forever homes.
