Remove or Amend Section 17.12.430 of the Los Angeles County Code

Remove or Amend Section 17.12.430 of the Los Angeles County Code
The Issue
We the undersigned oppose Section 17.12.430 of the Los Angeles County Code regarding the unlawful nature of casting, tossing, throwing, kicking or rolling any object other than a beach ball or volleyball on LA County beaches. We do not believe it serves the public interest, and hinders the enjoyment of LA County beaches for residents and tourists alike. Recreational objects like but not limited to Frisbees, footballs, hacky sacks, and soccer balls are a significant part of Los Angeles beach culture, and do not pose a significant public health or safety risk. Please consider striking Section 17.12.430 or revising to include a much broader range of recreational toys, balls, and flying discs. Thank you.
