Withdraw the SCIG railyard Draft EIR
Withdraw the SCIG railyard Draft EIR
The Issue
We want to grow pollution free
Residents, teachers, students, business owners, and employees who will be impacted by the construction and operations from the proposed BNSF Southern California International Gateway (SCIG) Railyard have the right to know what the short-‐ and long-‐term impacts to their health and quality of life.
BNSF has stated that this project will clean the air, reduce traffic, and create jobs, however, these statements are made through flawed assumptions and without the commitment to use all zero-‐ emissions to, from, and within the facility.
The fact is that railyards do not belong in close proximity to schools, to homes, daycare centers, or senior centers. These communities are already overburdened by harmful exposures and cannot afford to continue to subsidize with their health the benefits this company and the rest of the country receive.
