Lorraine Lakes Residents AGAINST proposed Cell Tower inside the community

We, the undersigned residents of the Lorraine Lakes Community, are concerned and shocked about the health hazards, visual pollution, and the unnecessary addition of another cell tower in our neighborhood. The cell tower, located at the town center, is causing great concern and distress for us and our families, many containing young children. 

Firstly, we are concerned about the potential health hazards associated with the radiation emitted by the cell tower. Numerous scientific studies have suggested that prolonged exposure to such radiation can cause adverse health effects, including cancer, DNA damage, and other serious health problems. We do not want to put our health and the health of our loved ones at risk.

Secondly, the cell tower is an eyesore and diminishes the aesthetic appeal of our community. Our neighborhood is a beautiful and peaceful place to live, and the presence of an unsightly cell tower ruins the natural beauty of this area. It is a distraction from the beauty of our surroundings, and it stands out like a sore thumb in the landscape.

Thirdly, the presence of another cell tower in such close proximity to the existing one that was placed on Uihlein/44th, doesn’t make sense. It will only contribute to visual pollution and further decrease the property values in our community. Stated in the Manatee County Land Development Code, under Personal Wireless Service Facilities, “Discourage new telecommunication towers in the non-preferred zone districts described in Table 5-1 of this section, inclusive of all residential zone districts, through the use of siting and locational preferences to further the preservation of community aesthetics, the compatibility of land uses in residential zone districts, and otherwise protect the attractiveness, health, safety and general welfare of the community.” The sight of a cell tower in close proximity to our homes as well as the cell tower located on Uihlein/44th, is a turn-off for potential buyers and can make it difficult to sell our properties. This could have a significant negative impact on the financial well-being of our community.

Therefore, we respectfully request that the cell tower plans be terminated. We believe that it is imperative to our community’s health, well-being, and prosperity that this health hazard is not built in our neighborhood.

We are also asking supporters to send emails and physical letters via Certified Mail. We have created a letter template for you to use. We encourage all current and future residents, and anyone who signed the petition to send emails and letters to the identified list of contacts who are the decision makers.
