Make 251 North's Hours Make Sense

It is my first day of classes at UMD and I walk up to 251 North at 8:15 am to grab a quick breakfast before my first class, only to find that the doors are locked. I think to myself that I should have checked the hours before hand, but I am shocked to realize that not all of the dining halls are open in time for breakfast. It seems almost silly to me to even have a dining hall that is not open for all three meals of the day. The following Saturday, I had been in Elkton Hall all day and I wanted to get dinner. Naturally, I planned to go to 251 North, since it is the closest dining hall to me, but I make sure to check the hours before going downstairs this time. Once again, I am thoroughly surprised to find that 251 North is also closed on Saturdays. Throughout the rest of the semester, there were many times where, “it would’ve been so much easier if 251 North was open,” and it continues to be a frustrating problem. Currently, 251 North's hours are 11:00 am to 8:30 pm Sunday through Friday.
251 North should have the same hours as the North Campus Diner. A change in 251 North’s hours will have a great positive impact on the residents of North Campus, specifically of the Denton Community. Students of the Denton Community would be able to eat all three meals conveniently at 251 North. Specifically, students would be able to eat breakfast at 251 North, so that they are fueled and ready for their classes. If 251 North’s hours have caused you trouble in the past, and you want to change this, please sign this petition and pass on its message to all North Campus residents. There is no point in having a dining hall, if its hours don’t accommodate most students’ class schedules.
