Petition In Support of the Release of William C. Scott

The Issue

William Scott has been incarcerated for 29 years, serving a Life sentence, which under the current " Stand Your Ground Law",would have been applicable had it in been in force in 1991. He was convicted of Felony Murder, (terrorism ), after looking in the face of a sawed-off shotgun pointed at him by the man who had inflicted 280 some stitches in his chest some 2 weeks earlier. Even though his actions were unintentional, a death occurred as a result.                                                         William has always shown remorse for his actions and continues to live with this tragedy every day. Over the past 29 years he has strived to better himself  taking. college courses, being a part of various groups, including a founding member and President of the Anamosa Branch of the NAACP. He has several certificates: (Computer Operator) with his most distinctive being a Braille Transcriber, registered with the LIBRARY OF CONGRESS, graduatiing with distinction (which means a grade point average of 95 and above)as a Paralegal. His hard work, I  feel, deserves him a second chance. Ray Walton, his Prosecuting Attorney feels that he deserves that chance. He is fully rehabilitated and ready to contribute to society. He is currently enrolled in a paralegal course, hoping to be an asset to  the youth concerning gun control, among other helpful  skills.                                                                                                                                                                      William poses no threat to the Community, and is willing to work hard to earn your acceptance and hopefully your respect if you would be willing to support his reintegration back into the Community he was born and raised in. With his strong faith in GOD and family, and his belief in forgiveness, he humbly asks for your support. Let's bring home one of our son^s, father's, brother's and grandchild.                                                                                                                                                      By signing below, you do so under no obligation or duress. This is all voluntary and by freewill. All information will be kept Confidential and used only for the purpose of presentation to the Governor.

 THANK YOU!!!!

PS. An update: With all of your support and prayers, September 3rd, 2020, William sees the Parole Board!!! Thanks to each and every one of you who has stood behind our family. Losing his Dad 3 years ago has been very hard for him, yet he has still persevered, striving to come home before he loses any more close family or friends. So continue to pray that September 3rd will be the day!

Love you all and thanks again ❤️
