STOP Testing on Animals

The Issue

According to Humane Society, 8% of drugs tested on animals are pronounced safe for humans. This leaves 92% that are not and their determinants rely on animals. The registration of a single pesticide product requires the use of about 12,000 animals for experimental purposes. Some of your favorite companies like Clinique, Loreal, Johnson & Johnson, Colgate, and many others participate in this animal cruelty. Animals are often used to test skin and eye irritation for cosmetic companies. They are then shaved and the products are put onto the eyes and skin, leaving them with no pain relief if the substance is irritable. As a society, it is below our integrity to feel as though these brands are exempted from these deeds because they make our favorite products. It has been found that rather than testing on animals, a better alternative is human cells and human cell lines. However, many companies have yet to look into this. This petition proposes that a bill is pushed for companies to face charges and exclusions from putting their products on the market if they use animal testing.
