Like many other animal lovers, I have been brought to tears over the sight of the innocent horses of the Metropolitan Police Force being attacked during the Riots in London this weekend. The attacks have ranged from a brick being thrown to cause a broken nose on one horse, to fireworks and glass bottles used as ammunition against these peaceful and loving creatures. There was even a bicycle thrown at one horse. Whilst I am not disputing that the mounted division can be an efficient way to assist in combatting rioting, I believe it is time that we asked ourselves IS THIS OK? It is ok to be putting innocent animals, who have no choice in the matter in such a dangerous and horrible situation, where they are ultimately paying the price. 

We must look for more humane alternative solutions, as clearly the human race is becoming sicker by the day if there are people out there who think this is acceptable. Mounted Police definitely have their place within the Police force, but I believe the time has come when it is INHUMANE to being using live animals as barriers against Riots and Violence. Cressida Dick, Sadiq Khan, I IMPLORE YOU TO BAN THE USE OF HORSES IN RIOTS!
