Sadiq Khan create autonomous driving test zone in London

With rising deaths from pollution and road accidents and recent terror attacks there is a strong case to create a test area in London where human drivers are banned.
The establishment of an autonomous driving zone would provide a clear message that London is at the forefront of development and pave the way for driverless cars across the capital.
This could be achieved firstly by development of roadmap outlining the obstacles, costs and benefits of a test autonomous driving zone. The London mayor should then seek to create a small test zone in central London where human drivers are banned by 2020.
Such development could attract investment and expertise to the capital and once trialled the area should be widened to include much of central London and a full prohibition on human-driven cars as soon as possible thereafter.
Not only has this the potential to attract new foreign investment to the city but it can make it cleaner and safer. The establishment of a autonomous zone would pave the way for future rapid implementation of technologies, ensuring London is at the forefront rather than struggling to upgrade infrastructure to catch up with advances.
