STOP THE PALACE OF FINE ARTS HOMELESS SHELTER / COVID 19 CENTER (Marina, SAN FRANCISCO).

STOP THE PALACE OF FINE ARTS HOMELESS SHELTER / COVID 19 CENTER (Marina, SAN FRANCISCO).
The Issue
If you are a resident of the Marina District who does not want a homeless shelter or COVID-19 Treatment center erected in the middle of our neighborhood thus putting us at risk for disease, increased crime and more defecation on our doorsteps, sign the petition below.
I have compassion for the homeless, but turning the Palace of Fine Arts into an homeless shelter in a residential neighborhood for an undefined time, with undefined security protocol and without a vote is not ok.
This authoritative act cannot be tolerated. It sets a dangerous precedent.
The facility has a handful of bathrooms for a proposed 162 homeless which is a violation of health codes and goes against CDC recommendations for preventing the spread of COVID-19. The lack of bathrooms, means the homeless tenants will be defecating all over the neighborhood which is something they already do on a daily basis in San Francisco.
Here is why you should sign this petition:
London Breed and San Francisco City Council,
Your proposal to create a homeless shelter/COVID-19 treatment center (or either of those options) in a residential neighborhood is criminal and it is an abuse of power against tax paying residents of the Marina District.
Here is why what you are doing without the tax paying marina residents consensus is an abuse of power and cannot happen:
1. Consent- You did not ask the residents of the Marina for our for consent. A opinion poll on NEXTDOOR is unacceptable.
2. Crime- San Francisco, and ESPECIALLY the Palace of Fine Arts is already a hot bed for criminal activity. Adding a population of homeless people is very likely to increase crime in our neighborhood. I've had a homeless person trespass, attempt robbery, and attempt to break into my house while I was home after trying to rob my neighbor (the police apprehended the vagrant and then DID NOTHING). I have had them break into my car. I've had them physically attack and physically threaten me on multiple occasions as have many other Marina residents. I've had them defecate on, urinate on, litter, loiter, trespass and vandalize my apartment and surrounding areas dozens of times. Unacceptable.
3. Security- You have not stated the extent to which these homeless people will be monitored and securitized. Will they be on lockdown? If not, we do not want them wandering the neighborhood, spreading disease, breaking into cars and harassing people. We are all on lockdown. Will they be? You have not provided this info nor have you defined how you would enforced such a measure. Unacceptable.
4. Facilities & Health Code- You do not have enough bathrooms to support the population of homeless people you intend to house at the Palace of Fine Arts. This is a likely a health code and human rights violation. Prove otherwise. Unacceptable.
5. Health Risks- Because you do not have adequate facilities, these people will be urinating and defecating in the streets and on our doorsteps as they already do. This poses serious health risk to the residents of the marina and creates unlivable conditions. I do not pay your $89 parking tickets and multitude of special SF Taxes to deal with this nonsense on a daily basis. SF Tax Payers already pay millions for the homeless populations facilities, medical, per diem and various other needs. Unacceptable.
6. COVID-19- Looks like there are additional plans to turn the Palace of Fine Arts into a COVID-19 center. NO. Personally, I am immune-compromised and am following your requests to self-quarantine to minimize the risk of contracting or spreading the disease. What do homeless people do during the day? They wander about and panhandle and violate the shelter in place orders. What will COVID-19 patients do when they realize that they are worse off in a petri-dish shelter that violates CDC recommendations? They will disperse into the surrounding area and likely be infected thus infecting others.
Please respect my right to limit my exposure to this deadly virus by not making my neighborhood an epicenter for the diseased and desperate. I am doing my part. Do yours.
7. Earthquakes and Fires- The Palace of Fine Arts is meant to be a shelter for tax paying citizens in the event of a fire or an earthquake. If either of these events should happen, tax paying citizens will not have access to the facilities we pay for. Unacceptable.
Everything about this plan, ESPECIALLY not giving us a vote is UNACCEPTABLE.
I am starting a petition and if this plan moves forward and I get sick or have a crime committed against me or anyone I know in my neighborhood, we will execute our rights to take legal action.
This is an abuse of power.
