Better bullying and mental health support in schools across Redbridge

The Issue

Following the heartbreaking news of the death of 15 year old Zain Pervez who sadly took his own life, it has become clear that current and former students at Oaks Park High School have struggled to receive the support they need.

According to Mental Health Foundation, 70% of children and young people do not receive sufficient intervention at an early age when it comes to their mental health. Bullying and poor mental health can affect children right into adulthood. Schools play a huge part in the detection of bullying and mental illnesses, therefore it is necessary that effective support is offered to those who are struggling, and bad behaviour in the form of bullying is also adequately addressed.

This is not only a problem within Oaks Park High School, but across schools all over the borough. Please sign this petition to convince Redbridge Council to implement better strategies to deal with children and young people's mental health and well-being.

Thank you.
