Clean up Penge High Street!

The Issue

Penge High Street is deteriorating into an open rubbish tip. On a daily basis bin bags accumulate on the pavements, ripped apart by animals overnight, leaving trails of debris lining the High Street. The twice weekly refuse collections along the High Street cannot cope with the level of need. The demographic make up of Penge is changing, with a larger number of people living in ever more cramped conditions in flats above commercial properties on the High Street. Communal bins are not supplied, according to Bromley Council, because of lack of available space, and because communal bins 'encourage fly tipping', and their solution is that domestic waste is placed on the pavements. This is not a solution. The High Street is filthy, a public health liability, and a disgrace to The London Borough of Bromley. Local residents will not put up with it any longer. The council must either find space for communal bins or instigate daily collections along the High Street.
