Allow the proposed development of 124 Station Road, Sidcup. Site of Co Op and car park.

The Issue

Coplan Estates (Sidcup) Ltd intend to secure planning consent for the redevelopment of the Co-op foodstore and car park to the rear, to provide a new, improved food store, together with 135 residential apartments over 3 buildings. The site is immediately visible on arrival at the train station or as you approach from the north on Station Road and in its current state, provides an unattractive gateway to the town. The development proposals will bring this underused site into viable use, providing much needed residential accommodation and strong linkages and relationships with the station. The proposals will provide:136 high quality apartments in a highly accessible location. A new food store with front and rear access, along with underground car parking for the store and residents. The proposals have developed through consultation with London Borough of Bexley, the Greater London Authority and the CABE Design Review Panel and seek to optimise development, whilst respecting the character of the local area and existing residential properties. 124 Station Road is a key brownfield site, located adjacent a station and therefore a location where residential development is encouraged. The development will safeguard existing retail business such as the Iron Horse Public House by bringing more potential customers to the area, so safeguarding their future.
