I am a local resident on Montgomery Street, EH7 5ET. I have created this petition with regards to a recent spate of anti-social behavior by a large group of young people in Montgomery Street Park in EH7. This has been an issue for the past several weekends. Here are some details:

1) Group/gang of 30-40 youths aged 15 to 16
2) They are consuming drugs and alcohol and leaving remnants behind
3) Park is unsafe for kids to use as broken glass, cans, etc. are left behind. Local residents have resorted to picking this up
4) Police have been contacted on many occasions about this but are always slow to dispatch officers to the scene
5) The kids attending these gatherings have been spotted with weapons such as blades
6) They have been spotted jumping on cars, scratching them and kicking bins

This kind of behavior needs to be nipped in the bud immediately. It's not acceptable that a residential street and it's public park become a regular scene where underage drinking, drug consumption, terrorizing the neighborhood, etc. is permitted or tolerated.

I believe it's the job of the local council, politicians and police force to show action here to reassure the residents of the area that something is being done about it and is being taken seriously. Quicker police responses, regular clean ups, making the park safer and upgrading it are all things that can and should be done.

By creating this petition, I hope we can show our local politicians and police force that action needs to be taken to get this issue resolved so we can all go back to enjoying the park and the benefits it brings.
