For months, a commercial van/bus covered with photographic images of nearly naked women engaged in sexual poses has been parking at the corner of Marcus Garvey and Van Buren, near the Ideal Food Basket, a busy supermarket.  The van is attached to an entity called the Pluckitblogmagazine.

Residents of this neighborhood do not want this kind of backwards and misogynistic imagery in our midst.  We are concerned that these derogatory and offensive images of women are being seen daily by the children of this neighborhood, especially our girls and young women, who should not be exposed to this version of woman as sexual object.  The words “MEN’S HEALTH” and “TOYZ” appear next to the images.  Our boys and young men should also not be exposed to this casual example of female exploitation. 

We demand the owner of this van keep it off our streets where we bring up our children and where we currently must explain to them the vile and insulting images that confront them daily. 

OUR GOAL is to ensure this van is not parked on the streets of a residential neighborhood.
