The Philippines is a country rich in cultural heritage, there a lot of things that has been left by our ancestors, these come in all shapes and sizes, from the traditional clothes they used to wear to the buildings they used to live in. There are tons of things passed down as heritage in the Philippines, however there is the issue wherein not all of them are being maintained. The Andres Bonifacio Memorial Shrine or Murals which is also known by the people as the KKK Monument which is located at Ermita Manila, near SM Manila was unveiled in 1998 during the celebration of the Philippine Independence Day, to remember Andres Bonifacio y de Castro who was known as the father of the Philippine Revolution with the group KKK which played a big part to gain our country's current independence. The KKK Shrine / Monument is one of the most beautiful works of art that portrays the history of the Philippines, it is an important historical and cultural heritage in the Philippines, but currently the monument is surrounded by wastes, homeless people, stray animals, colleges, vendors, and malls, which could do things that could harm the image of the Mural. Our group beseeches the local government of Manila, which is headed by the City Government of Manila, the Department of Tourism, and the National Registry of National Historical Commission of the Philippine Markers, to send some manpower to keep the Andres Bonifacio Murals also known as the KKK Monument, regularly maintained so it could be safe from pollution or any other harm that could deter its image as it is part of our national heritage. Regarding the homeless people our major concern is that due to the fact that they are living under the monument they are ruining the monument’s image which may cause tourists or visitors to be put off. We hope that the Manila City Hall Government takes care of the monument and its surroundings, with that, the monument left by our ancestors would surely be able to regain its glory.
