The USDA needs to help our dogs!
The Issue
These dogs need your help. It's time to take action. There is at least 10,000 puppy mills in the United States. The main goal in puppy mills is to get the most amount of puppies in the fastest possible way, without worrying about the health of the dogs. Puppy mills are also contributing to overpopulating the dog population causing 4-5 million dogs to get euthanized every year with only 5% of them being because of medical issues.
The conditions of puppy mills is awful. In some cases dogs are kept outside all day in the heat with untreated illnesses. Breeders twist off tails as a method of tail docking that is not approved by veterinarians. Often these dogs don't get the socialization they need which results in the dogs being destructive or having anxiety and aggression.
The USDA has been slacking on fixing this problem. The USDA has let some of these awful puppy mills stay open. There was a case in Missouri where the owner had over 150 dogs outside in the heat with 5 litters of puppies that were mostly sick and then they got reported again for twisting tails and still remained in business.
These dogs seriously need your help! Plese contact your local federal legislators and ask them to Press the USDA to make an enforcement of the AWA a top priority, and enforce penalties for bredders who don't follow the law.
