Thank you to everyone who signed this petition against the proposals for huge towers of luxury flats on the Bishopsgate Goods Yard site, in the heart of Shoreditch.
As no doubt many of you are aware, a lot has happened since this petition was launched a year ago – developers Hammerson and Ballymore submitted their final planning application, both Hackney and Tower Hamlets councils rejected it, and London Mayor Boris Johnson took over the application at the developer’s request.
He alone will now decide on the future of Shoreditch at a public hearing expected next month.
A crucial part of the planning process going forward is a new public consultation which was launched last month. If you have yet to submit a consultation response expressing your opinion on this application, now is the time to do so. It closes on Monday, February 15th!!!
It’s a simple process, just email your views to bishopsgate@london.gov.uk. This is an email address set up by the GLA precisely for this reason. The planners at the GLA and Mayor Johnson have a duty to consider all consultation responses, and these carry far more weight than individual signatures on a petition.
all the info to object is here: http://www.morelightmorepower.co.uk/object/
Finally, Hackney Council also launched a petition against the proposals last year - and both our petitions are now calling for the same thing. As such, we have decided to ‘link’ them. This means the total number of signatories for both are reflected on each petition page. This does not mean you have officially signed the other petition, though of course you can, nor does Hackney Council have your contact details.
Thank you, and make sure you have your say before it's too late! February 15th!!!
