More Light More Power and Stop The Blocks have joined forces to hold a Festival of Shadows on Sunday 15th November at 11am. The Festival is just one of a series of activities aimed at saving the Bishopsgate Goodsyard in Shoreditch from a monstrous development that will throw the surrounding area into darkness. “We want everyone who cares about the area to rally to the cause, and help Boris to see the light.” The Festival will begin with a rally starting at the Shoreditch Overground Station and aims to collect as many signatures as possible for a petition – joining the nearly 6,000 current supporters – to persuade Boris Johnson to reject these development proposals! More Light, More Power campaign said “We need as many people as possible to write to Boris and get him to reject outright the proposed scheme to develop the Bishopsgate Goodsyard"... “The objections to this development are legion, but let’s focus on a couple of facts where there can be no dispute. Firstly, this development will create no jobs and makes no provision for the flexible workspace needed by the high tech creative businesses that want to continue to make their home in Tech City. “More importantly there is ZERO affordable or social housing, Just 200 metres from the birthplace of social housing this development cynically ignores housing policy and fails to provide homes that Londoners can afford. “But most of all there will be no light. Massive tower blocks – almost as high as Canary Wharf, will deprive local people of light and warmth every day of the year. Keep up to date - find us on Facebook or twitter! #BorisSeeTheLight
