Small Business Trading Hours - Mitchelton

Brisbane City Council is wanting Valentina Cafe (a small family operated business) to undertake a Development Application to change Trading Hours by 2 Hours from 8pm to 10pm.

A DA that will cost this small local business $14,000+ and 12 months of time. With no guarantee that it will be approved. To make it clear, we are not seeking a free pass, we just want to see the rules changed to make it fair and affordable for small business to submit applications like this.

Valentina Cafe is located on one of Brisbane's most congested roads. The building is fitted out with acoustic glass and is also only 25metres from a commercial zone.

We are not asking for Brisbane City Council to make this a FREE process, we in fact believe it should be regulated and charged, however not through a Development Application Process that would also waste State Governments time as it would require a referral to DTMR.

We believe that Trading Hours should be a seperate and more cost effective application process to make it more affordable for small operators and cut revenue raising.

Adjoining residential properties are able to have parties and make noise up until 10pm at night, we are not seeking unrealistic hours and are not asking for a free pass, just a more fair and efficient means of applications and assessment.
