Allison Richardson Must Resign from the Woodford County School Board

Considering recent and repetitive statements by Mrs. Richardson regarding the plight of various ethnic groups that are represented within our community, the community members below are calling for her to vacate her position as representative of Woodford County School Board District 2, effective immediately. One of the things that make Woodford County the place that we were all proud to call “home” is the representation of people of various backgrounds who, although we may look different, share many commonalities that truly make us “more alike than different”.

Allison has had multiple opportunities to choose to become more informed about the realities and concerns of the various ethnic groups within her district, but has chosen to remain ignorant, and to display that ignorance on social media multiple times, referring to certain groups using hate speech and derogatory terms, and calling those who choose to recognize the challenges of systemic oppression on Black-owned businesses, and to support them in an effort to counteract those challenges “Racist as F***”.  This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by a person that holds a position that empowers her to make decisions that affect ALL students in our community.

Our call for Allison to step down is not a choice to attack her personally, but an acknowledgment of the fact that her viewpoints do not align with those of a public servant called to a non-partisan position. To fulfill such a position requires that a member “accord ALL other members, parents and community with respect”, and she does not do so.

Allison, we demand that you vacate your position now, to allow for someone better suited to meet the needs of ALL students to fill this position. “Hate has no place in WCPS”, and so Allison has to go!
