This petition has been set up to get justice for Bear the Mastiff x Staffordshire Bull Terrier, that Leigh Cats and Dogs home put to sleep without making the necessary contact with Bear's owners to let them know they had found him and deemed him as dangerous when in actual fact he was the biggest softest teddy bear you could come across. Leigh lied to the owners stating that he had been rehomed and when complaints had been put into the council it was later discovered that they had put him to sleep. How many more dogs and owners have they done this to????

Leigh Cats and Dogs home have not been following the stray dog procedure and have been putting dogs to sleep without making any forms of contact with the owners to a point of where they had not even been making contact with microchip companies to obtain the owners details in any attempt to reunite them breaking several of the stray dog laws.

In the hope of closing Leigh Cats and Dogs home this gives another reputable rescue the opportunity to take over the kennels and run them correctly ensuring the safety of every single animal that passes through their doors which will also include doing homechecks for every dog that is adopted out, ensuring the basic vet treatments are done i.e microchip, castration, neuter, flea and worming with an onsite behaviourist that can work with any dog and the community to improve on a dogs behaviour. In the unfortunate event that we cannot close Leigh Cats and Dogs Home we hope to have the stray dog contract removed from Leigh to prevent them from putting to sleep helpless animals whose owners are desperately searching for them and not even being given a chance to get their furry companions back to where they belong.
