We, the residents of societies In and around Mahindra city are deeply anguished by the glaring apathy of the authorities towards the pollution around the lake area. Kolavai lake is well known for its scenic grandeur for residents enjoying lake view apartments in Mahindra city and for the companionship it provides to the hundreds of morning\evening joggers\walkers of all ages in the area.

Of late, we have observed companies have been disposing of toxic garbage around the lake area which is proving detrimental to the ecosystem around the lake. The Lake, well known for its perennial nature hosts migratory birds such as the whiskered tern, Indian spot-billed ducks, moorhens, coots, and small waders. The mindless destruction of the natural fauna and uprooting of trees, around the lake area, has destroyed the birdlife

In this regard, We plan to start maintaining a journal of all events to track what the lake area is being transformed to highlight the lethargy of the concerned authorities to address this issue.

We are seeking support from all nature lovers, natural conservationists, bird lovers, tourism enthusiasts to support us in this campaign. We hope this campaign would be effective to compel the concerned authorities to take cognizance of our concern and restore the past glory of the lake area around Kolavai lake.
