Open up M69 Junction 2

Open up M69 Junction 2
The Issue
The M69 Junction 2 in Leicestershire is a job half-done. Chris Kealey MBE, Labour's parliamentary candidate for Hinckley and Bosworth, is calling for:
a) the opening of new slips roads at Junction 2 to enable traffic to go and come from the South (the M6, M40 and Coventry) and...
b) the building of a new link road to connect to the A47 "Clickers Way" near Barwell and Earl Shilton.
Since the motorway was opened in 1977 it has only been possible to go north at Junction 2. Times have changed. Traffic congestion is piling up through Hinckley, Burbage and down to the A5 as commuters try to access the motorways to the south. It's time to think bigger in our borough, be bolder. We deserve better.
This petition calls for new slip roads to open up the M69 south at Junction 2 (Sapcote Road roundabout) - to the M6, M40 and Coventry. Thousands of motorists and commuters in the east of Hinckley, Earl Shilton, Burbage and Barwell will benefit. Our towns have grown so much in the last 38 years - thousands more homes since the motorway opened - while the M69 has remained a job half-done.
We must also act now to meet the needs of new homes coming to Barwell and Earl Shilton. That is why we want a link-road to the A47 / Clickers Way to be looked at. We need positive action for the future, no more waiting for gridlock.
Opening up the roundabout could have a big positive impact for businesses and homeowners. It could cut traffic through the town and under the Sketchley Brook railway bridge. Infrastructure takes time - even just a couple of extra sliproads - which is why we must start the conversation now. It's time we finished the half-done roundabout and seized its potential for the growing communities of Hinckley and Bosworth.
Please sign the petition and give your support for this initiative. Hinckley and Bosworth deserve better.
