Hi, Petition Family! 

I want to update you on the meeting I had last Friday with Alain Brandon,  VP of Sustainability, Social Impact, and Government Relations at Loblaw Companies Limited.  We had a respectful half-hour conversation about our petition and the urgency with which we maintain Loblaw needs to act in pressuring its suppliers to adopt more sustainable packaging. 

But FIRST... I'd love for us to claim complete responsibility for this, but I know it's the result of sustained public pressure over the course of many years.  Did you hear the news?   Loblaw announced today that it will eliminate single-use plastic shopping bags from its stores by early 2023!!! (See the article below.)

SUCH A VICTORY!!!   And it's due in part to all of you who signed your name to the "little petition that could" over the last three and a half years.  Alain Brandon mentioned several times how important it is that we are holding Loblaw's feet to the fire when it comes to the issue of plastics.  

Meantime... more great news!  Alain Brandon has agreed to write a response to our petition that I will be posting on this page in the days to come.  Stay tuned!
