Save Dutton Park train station

The issue

The Newman Government has walked away from Labor’s Cross River Rail project and is now proposing a combined rail and bus tunnel beneath the Brisbane River at a cost of $5 billion.

As part of the LNP’s proposal, Dutton Park train station would be closed permanently and would not be replaced. This is unacceptable.

Locals who use Dutton Park station and regular patients to the PA Hospital will be forced to use bus services or travel to Fairfield or Park Road train stations.

This will result in longer trips for staff and will limit access for patients at the PA, particularly those with mobility issues.

I believe the loss of this critical piece of transport infrastructure will have a significant and long lasting impact on the Southside community.

The Newman LNP Government must immediately reverse their plan to close Dutton Park train station.
