FSG bought Liverpool for £300 million. It’s now worth £4.1 billion. That’s almost 14 times what they paid for it. In addition, they have benefitted from bumper TV deals and improved sponsorship deals with the likes of Nike and Standard Chartered. They have more than made their money.

During this time they have consistently underspent on transfers. Yes, they bought VVD and Alisson, but that was offset by the Coutinho money. They are operating at around £20 million net spend per year, one of the lowest in the Premier League. They are all about their own profit. And now they want to make even more by going against everything that Liverpool FC is built on.

Liverpool supporters are proud of the fact that we have won so many league titles. We are proud of the the fact that we are the most successful British club in terms of European Cups won. And we are proud of our working class roots and fighting spirit, coming back from insurmountable odds to win some of those trophies. Without this hunger and determination to win, what is football? What is any sport?

This is the third time FSG have gone against the spirit of our club. They tried to put ticket prices up and faced a backlash. They tried to use the furlough scheme during COVID-19 and again were faced with the fact that Liverpool supporters didn't support their idea. And now this. They knew the European Super League wouldn’t be welcomed by fans but didn’t care.
