It was launched in the knowledge that what it asks for is a long way down the line - as it were - but seeks to lay down a marker.

When change does come, it makes sense for Heswall to have let it be known that it should not be left behind.

Comments on social media suggest that many people believe an improved rail connection between the town and Liverpool - and elsewhere for that matter - is important.
