Chris Cavanagh started this petition to Liverpool City Council

In 2020 it was acknowledged that Mona Best was not only the first female rock and roll promotor in Liverpool or even the UK but was highly likely the first female Rock and Roll promotor in the world.

In 1984, John Lennon (Posthumously), Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Richard Starkey were all offered the Freedom of Liverpool city, in 1995 the musical world finally acknowledged the role that Pete Best played in their good fortunes with the release of The Beatles - Anthology 1 album.

This petition calls on Liverpool City Council, the Mayor of Liverpool Joanne Anderson, the ruling Labour Group, all city councillors regardless of party to:
Support that Mona Best (posthumously) and Pete Best should be offered the Freedom of the city of Liverpool for their contributions to our musical heritage.
Without the early foundations laid by Mona Best in establishing a club for music within West Derby we may not be looking at statues of four men from the windows of the Liver Building.

Without the musical input of Pete Best into the early music played on the stages of Liverpool and Hamburg our city may never have been able to hear the raw talent that followed and thrilled the world putting Liverpool on the musical map.
