Statement from Judy Erlandson, Public Works Manager.

I contacted Judy Erlandson and asked her to please provide an official statement about what has happened and what had been done at the pond and with the wildlife within, that I could share with a very confused community, and the supporters of this petition. She obliged and responded via email with the following (see picture). This is all the information she provided. I do not know if these statements are true. We have no physical evidence that the 1st pond has been filled in with the animals still in it, meaning no photos or videos. But 3 people from the Public Works Dept. have said 3 different things about the draining and filling in of the pond. This is why I am torn about taking down the petition. But my gut tells me that the people who said they saw the trucks dumping rubble or dirt in it are telling the truth. Why would anyone make that up? But still, no photos or videos. This is a crappy situation for the residents who are concerned, the people who have signed this petition, and The City of Livermore. By no means is this a witch-hunt. This is a pond habitat being destroyed, with the second pond next- and it's coming up fast. The City, specifically Darren Greenwood, has fibbed about details regarding the ponds and has broken his promises to the public (on the news, etc.) to leave the pond area in peace until the ducklings fledged. He also failed to inform the Mayor- *his boss*, that the Springtown HOA Clubhouse pool drains into the pond, chemicals and all. Fences went up, heavy machinery was driven through the nesting sites dozens of times, and load after load of dirt has been trucked through the pond areas. He literally did everything he promised he wouldn't. So why should we believe Judy Erlandson's statement? I don't know that we can. Or should. So, my petition stays. Unless the City can prove they did not fill in the first pond, I don't believe I can trust them. Others will have to decide if what they are telling us is true. So far, not a good track record for being honest. I think we can all forgive mistakes, and we should, but broken promises and lies, especially when animals lives are involved, should not be tolerated. Animals were killed by the trucks coming in and out. Nests were run over. Darren Greenwood did not keep his promise and he absolutely should have. The City should be accountable for what they have done illegally, the promises to the public that they didn't keep, and for the deaths to some of the wildlife that they caused. So again, the petition stands. Thank You.
