The Issue

The Town of Lisbon allotted less than 40% of its budget to schools for FY25, yet the school budget has to go to referendum due to Maine Law.  This petition would require the Town of Lisbon to put its municipal budget to a referendum of the citizens, annually.

Essentially Lisbon residents were afforded the opportunity to vote on how the School budget (approximately $8.2 million dollars in local funding), but not the approximately $13.5 million on the Municipal side.
