Our campaign urging the FDA to grant Accelerated Approval to GM604 continues to gain strength. Yesterday we received public support from several celebrities: Anthony Carbajal, Photographer, ALS patient Lynn Nottage: Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Karyn Parsons: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990) Andrea Logan White: Moms’ Night Out (2014) Collette Wolfe: Interstellar (2014), Hot Tub Time Machine (2010) This morning PALS Theresa O’Leary and husband Dave O’Leary appeared on local Rochester, NY news: http://foxrochester.com/news/features/good-day-rochester/stories/the-right-try-campaign-1937.shtml#.VOTng8aBBBJ Innovative drug maker, Genervon, met with the FDA last week -- although no decision was announced regarding Accelerated Approval of GM604. If the FDA decides to require another clinical trial, it will take many years for GM604 to reach market. Yesterday, Genervon offered a new press release assuring the public and our U.S. Senators that GM604 is a well-researched drug that has demonstrated both safety and efficacy in human trials (http://www.genervon.com/genervon/about_pressreleases.php). Our campaign believes that this press release provides us the perfect opportunity to attract the attention of U.S. Senators on the H.E.L.P. Committee. To be most effective we encourage you to target the two top ranking senators on this committee, Sen. Lamar Alexander (TN) and Sen. Patty Murray (WA). We also hope to coax Sen. Rand Paul (KY) into voicing his support, as his office mentioned interest in our campaign. Please take time today to contact these 3 senators (links below). 1) Share your personal story with the Senator or simply mention that you support the ALS Community and patients right to try new treatments when no options are available. 2) Tell the senator that there is a new treatment for ALS, Genervon’s GM604, and say you support the campaign urging the FDA to enter this treatment into the Accelerated Approval Program. (AAP). 3) Mention that Genervon has met with the FDA and now the lives of approximately 500,000 people worldwide rest in the hands of the FDA. 4) Ask that the Senator contact the FDA to ensure that GM604 is given full and fair consideration for the AAP. 5) Tell the senator you would like a response. If you call the Senator’s office, be sure to speak with the Health Legislative Assistant (HLA). The person answering the phone may not be able to speak knowledgeably about the senator’s involvement with health related issues.
