According to California State Park officials "The Mount Diablo State Park Design Documents have been finalized, pending code compliance review/approvals (State Fire Marshal (SFM) and ADA)." The Design Document was created by a Traffic Engineer who conducted the first MDSP Road Traffic Safety Survey using Caltrans standards in over 84 years. It was reviewed and approved by California State Park officials. It will include: "Solid Double Yellow lines (Caltrans standards), DO NOT PASS BIKES ON BLIND CURVES signs on the uphill lanes, Sharrows on the pavement placed every half mile on the uphill lane of South/North and Summit Roads, Share the Road signs and AVOID CRASH SLOW DOWN signs on the downhill lane of South/North and Summit Road." According to California Park Officials, "they will try to expedite the MDSP Schedule for the Striping and Signage plan timeline of 305 days which includes: Permitting & Compliance, Biding (Standard Public Works Process) and Construction." CA State Park officials are hoping for an end date of July! We would like to thank everyone for their support throughout this process! Special thanks to State Senator Steve Glazier for his leadership and commitment to improve the safety for cyclists and motorists on Mount Diablo!!
